September 30, 2013: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

September 30, 2013:  Language Arts:  Students had shortened classes due to Imagination Theater.  Students did a journal entry, this week's spelling words and were introduced to this week's vocabulary words.

Homework:  

  • practice book 137
  • SS pages 34 & 35
  • write each missed spelling word 5 times each
  • research book report due October 16, 2013
Make sure you turn iin progress report, medicals and student fees.

September 26, 2013: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

September 26, 2013:  Language Arts.  Today we reviewed simple solutions pages 30 & 31, practice boo pages 263 & 274.  Students finished reading both stories today.  Reviewed vocabulary for tomorrow's test.

Homework:  

  • Write a story using 6 of the ten vocabulary words.  Make sure you circle vocabulary word and underline context clues
  • Simple Solutions pages 32 & 33
  •  Make sure you review affixes, extra credit on test tomorrow
  • Study vocabulary and spelling for test
Please return progress reports, send in student fees and medicals.  Exclusions will begin after October 15th.

September 25, 2013: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

Language Arts:  September 25, 2013:  Students reviewed Simple Solutions and Practice Book.  Students were given a rubric for a new book report due October 16, 2013.  You may get an additional copy of this on the staff  page of the Hale website.  Students continued reading the story, "The Inn-Keeper's Apprentice."

Homework: 

  • PB book pages 264 & 273
  • SS book pages 30 & 31
  • Study affixes, spelling, vocabulary for comprehension test on Friday
  • Students received book report rubric.  This is due October 16, 2013 and will be a research and reading grade.
Progress reports go home today.  Please sign and return by Friday.

Language Arts:  September 24, 2013:  Students practiced their affixes and studied spelling for Friday's spelling test.  Students worked on lesson 4. page 41 in their English book.  Students finished vocabulary for this week's words "The Inn-Keeper's Apprentice.

  • Practice book pages 261 & 272
  • Simple Solutions pages 28 & 29
  • Finish vocabulary graphic organizer
Progress reports go home on 9/25/13.

September 23, 2013: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

September 23, 2013:  Language Arts:  Students had a pre-spelling test on words from practice book page 271.  Students were introduced vocabulary words for this week's vocabulary.  PowerPoint is on line under my name on the staff page.  Students learned six additional affixes and wrote them on index cards.  Reviewed Simple Solutions pages 24 & 25.

Homework:  

  • Simple Solutions 26 & 27
  • PB page 271
  • Write missed spelling words 5 times each
  • No vocabulary, we will finish tomorrow
Do not forget to bring in medical forms, tile art fundraiser and student fees.

September 19, 2013:  Language Arts: Students reviewed Simple Solutions pages 22 & 23.  Students reading and answering questions for the story The Last Summer with Maizon.  Students also listened to most of the story on CD.

September 18, 2013: classwork, Homework & Notifications

September 18, 2013:  Language Arts:  Students worked on Simple Solutions and Practice Book.  Students worked in groups and continued reading the story "The Last Summer with Maizon" and answerered comprehension questions.

Homework:  

  • Practice book page 222
  • Write a story for each vocabulary word for this week's story.  Make sure you circle vocabulary word and underline context clue.
  • Test on Friday: Story - The Last Summer with Maizon - comprehension, selling and vocabulary
  • Book report due tomorrow on Dinosaur Ghosts, page 190.  Template is on line next to my homework blog
  • Students keep a daily journal in class.  This will be graded tomorrow.  They have to have the date, questions restated and answer to receive 25 points. :)
  • Progress reports go home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013

September 12, 2013:  Language Arts:  Students finished working on their tests.  Students will have the opportunity to correct their test and have been given the directions.  Students have been introduced to 4 affixes.  We will be working on these weekly help students with vocabulary.

September 3, 2013:  Students worked on Simple Solutions, lesson 2, created a vocabulary graphic organizer on this week's vocabulary and introduced to this weeks story: "Where the Red Fern Grows."

Homework:

  • Complete lesson 3 pages 6 & 7 in Simple Solutions workbook.
  • Complete vocabulary graphic organizer
  • Complete Practice book page 201 spelling
  • Rewrite your essay, this is due by Friday, September 6, 2013.  We want to hang them up for Open House on September 12, 2013.
