March 30, 2015.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions 83.  Students created and entry in their journal on exposition and 1st person and 3rd person.  Students reviewed and discussed this week's vocabulary words for the story Amelia Earhart.  Students began reading the story in their reader.

March 24, 2015: Students created a journal entry on purpose and objective along with new vocabulary.  Students took a pretest practice book page 63.  These words will be posted online.  Students read chapter 12, 13, or 14 in novel and answered comprehension question independently.  Students worked on homework when they finished.  Reviewed instructional vocabulary for chapters 9-12.

March 23, 2015:  Room 316 took last part of math test and will not have homework in reading.  Room 315 and 317 took spelling test, read Number the Stars chapter 12 and answered comprehension questions.

March 17, 2015:  Students had a pre-spelling test. for this week's unit.  The spelling words will be posted online this evening on the haleschool.org website.  Students read the novel Number the Stars.  Students reviewed vocabulary words for this week's reading vocabulary test on Friday.

March 11, 2015:  Students worked on practice book pages 31 & 33, with the exception of 317.  317 tested in reading today for the PARCC test.  Students read chapter 7 & 8 in the novel "Number the Stars."

Homework:

• Study for spelling test on Thursday, March 12, 2015 for the week of 3/2/2015.
• Students were given a permission slip for field trip on April 23, 2015.  We are asking that the students return this form and money no later than March 31, 2015.  Students will be viewing a play performed by DePaul University at the Blackstone theater.

Students will be taking PARCC test through next week.

March 10, 2015:  Students worked on Buckle Down reviewing steps how to review a narrative.  Students read chapter 5 "Number the Stars," and answered a comprehension question using R.A.C.E.  This was completed for a grade.

March 9, 2015:  Students will be taking the PARCC test, so homework and classwork will be limited.  Today students reviewed what a narrative is and the proper steps for writing a narrative.

• There will be a spelling test on last week's spelling words on Thursday.  Please make sure you review.

Room 315 took two reading tests today.

Room 316 will take two reading tests on Tuesday..

Room 317 will take two reading tests on Wednesday.

March 5, 2015:  Students spent the class presenting their stories today.  So many of the students did a wonderful job.  Many were cute and inspiring.

March 4, 2015:  Students reviewed practice book page 30 for spelling test on Friday.  Students in room 317 reviewed Simple Solutions #74.  Students in 315 & 316 worked on prefix/root word activity.    Student had about 35-40 minutes two work on their Student Treasures story.  Students will also begin doing a small presentation on their story.  Students that do not have their book tomorrow will lose 1/2 the points.  They have had 5 weeks and class time.

March 2, 2015:  Students took a pre-spelling test, had two journal entries vocabulary and today's objective,  Students reviewed last week's prefix and root words.  Students began reviewing vocabulary for this week's reading chapters 5-11, Number the Stars.  Students completed unfinished tests, quizzes and worked on their Student Treasure story.
