April 29, 2014: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

April 29, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students worked on pages 198 & 199 in their Simple Solutions workbook.   We reviewed these pages in class.  Student made a vocabulary entry in their journal on the word supplement.  Students read two pages in their novel.

Homework:

• Research book report is due on Thursday, May 1, 2014
• Review vocabulary words from last week for chapter 1 & 2 of our novel

Make sure you get a good night sleep and eat correctly for your NWEA test.  This is a high stakes test.

April 28, 2014: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

April 28, 2014:  Language Arts.  Students made a journal entry on NWEA testing on how they will prepare for the test.  Students are allowed to have paper and pencil for test and write anecdotal.  Students worked on pages 196 & 197 Simple Solutions workbook.  Students read a few pages from the novel "Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963."

Homework:

• Make sure you complete research book report this is due on May 1, 2014.  Make sure you follow and include rubric.

Prepare for your NWEA test. practice Compass Learning and Prep Dog.

April 24, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students worked on Simple Solutions pages 192 & 193.  Students reviewed practice book page 249 for spelling test tomorrow.  Students made entries in journal with two new vocabulary words.  In groups, students worked on laptops on Prepdog prepare for upcoming NWEA test next week.

April 23, 2014: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

April 23, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students wrote a journal entry on how they will succeed on the reading portion of their NWEA test next week.  All three classrooms will be taking the reading portion of the NWEA test next week.  Students feel they are ready and will do an awesome job.  Students worked on practice book page 248 and reviewed Simple Solutions pages 190 & 191.  Students read a little in the new novel, "The Watsons go to Birmingham-1963.

Homework:

• Simple Solutions 192 & 193
• Study root words and spelling for test on Friday
• Reminder research/book report due May 1, 2014
• Write a story using 6 vocabulary words

Students are trying to go on a rewards field trip.  The goal is to have perfect attendance for the next three weeks.

April 22, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students reviewed Practice book page 247 for spelling test on Friday.  Students were given an additional two new root words for test on Friday.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions pages 188 & 189.  Students were introduced to the novel "Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963.  Students listed to music by Black Eyed Peas introduce theme of book and watched trailer for movie.

• Study root words and spelling words for test
• Research book report due May 1, 2014

Welcome Back!

April 21, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students took a pre-spelling test for Friday's test.  Students worked on new vocabulary words for chapter 1 & 2 for the novel "Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963.

Homework:

• Write missed spelling words 5 times each
• Complete vocabulary graphic organizer
• Simple Solutions pages 188 & 189
• Research Book Report due May 1, 2014

Students will be taking NWEA tests during the month of May.

April 10, 2014: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

April 10, 2014:  Students were given a rubric for their research book report.  This will be due on May 1, 2014.  Students will be graded on a book report, research grade and speaking grade for this project.  This grade will be on their progress report.  Students viewed the movie "Amelia" and made connections and comparisons to the story we read "First Lady on Flight."

Homework:

• No Homework
• Make sure you work on your research book report.  A copy of the rubric is on Hale website. :)

Spring break begins on Monday, April 14th through Friday April 21st.  Enjoy!!!

April 9, 2014: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

April 9, 2014:  Students worked on Simple Solutions pages 186 & 187.  Students worked on their Buckle Down Workbook connecting and comparing nonfiction texts pages 113-116.  Students read two additional passages to compare and answered comprehension questions.  In addition, students met with Mrs. Muir to discuss the upcoming NWEA test.  We had conferences on their goal for the RIT band score.  :)

Homework:

• None

Students will be assigned a research-book report project tomorrow.  This will be available online on the Hale School website.  Students will decide the due date.

April 8, 2014:  Language Arts.  Students made a journal entry today, added new vocabulary word and were given an additional four new root words to learn over Spring break.  Students worked in Buckle Down book page 113 making connections with texts.

April 3, 2014:  Students completed their test from yesterday.  Students worked on practice book page 149 for spelling test tomorrow.  Students worked o SRA and tablets to help get ready for the NWEA tests coming up starting April 28, 2014

April 1, 2014:  Students worked on practice book book page 147 spelling.  Students finished reading the story First Lady on Flight and answered comprehension questions using RACE.  Students listened to the story on CD to review for test tomorrow.
