January 29, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 29, 2015:  Students entered a journal entry on  a literary device and vocabulary entry using clues.  Students discuss the prefix and root work they had assigned for homework, reviewed Simple Solutions #59 and finished reading and answering comprehension questions for Passage to Freedom.

Students also took a vocabulary test on unit 4 vocabulary book.

January 28, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 28, 2015:  Students completed journal entry on poetry term and vocabulary term.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions #58.  Students worked in groups completing story on Passage to Freedom and comprehension questions.

  • Vocabulary quiz unit four orange vocabulary book on Thursday,  January 29, 2015.  
  • Complete Simple Solutions #58

There will be school on Friday, January 30, 2015.  No Saturday school this week.  Bring box tops for label contest.  Please back form for Chrome books.

January 27, 2015: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

January 27, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry using vocabulary.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lessons 56 & 57.  Students continued reading the story "Passage to Freedom" and answered essay questions using R.A.C.E. (evidence).

January 26, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 26, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry--today's objective and purpose.  Students worked on vocabulary and began to read the story "A Passage to Freedom," and answered essay questions using evidence and details to support their answer.

Homework:

  • Simple Solutions #57
  • Pre: re  Root:  spect (write a sentence using example and clue and give the meaning)
End of quarter on Friday.  There is school on Friday.  Bring box tops labels for contest.

January 20, 2014:  Students worked on prefix and root word.  Students finished section in Buckle Down workbook on context clues.  Students worked in various groups on Shakespeare, complex non-fiction texts, reading skills, and text features.

1/16/2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 16, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry and discussed the upcoming reading and math NWEA test that is upcoming.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lesson 52 and took notes on the various ways you can use context clues to understand/comprehend vocabulary words.

Homework:

  • Research due on January 22, 2015.  Extra credit if you have it by January 20, 2015.
  • Practice Prepdog, Compass Learning for upcoming NWEA tests
Bring in donation for Alumni basket for Alumni Celebration.  Bring back progress report.  End of 2nd quarter in two weeks. Do not forget to bring in box top labels.

January 14, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 14, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry learning new vocabulary words and how to use context clues.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lesson 30 and took the spelling test on page 50.  Students also learned two new academic vocabulary words and discussed the new prefix and root word they had for homework.

Homework:

  • Simple Solutions lesson 51
  • prefix-tele and root word hehi & vect.  Wrtie a sentence for each example you choose and indicate context clues
  • Study for Simple Solutions quiz lesson 45-48 for Thursday.
  • Research due January 22.  All the information is on the website
  • Do not forget donation for alumni basket
  • Return you progress report.
Students are taking MAP tests this week and next week.

January 13, 2015:   Students worked on vocabulary and context clues, Simple Solutions and reviwed practice book.  Spelling test will be tomorrow for the classrooms that did not have time to take it.

January 12, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 12, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry for the end of the story Middle School.  Students worked on finishing questions for the story Turning Point.  These will be due tomorrow and students that were absent Tuesday and Friday, this will be due on Wednesday.  Students worked in groups on two new root words and two new prefixes.

Homework:

  • Spelling test page 100 on Tuesday
  • Complete PB page 101
  • Simple Solutions lesson 49
  • Quiz Simple Solutions lesson 45-48 on Thursday
  • Research due January 22, 2015.  Extra credit if in before the 20th.
End of quarter January 29th.  I will be collecting journals next week. ;)

January 9, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notficiations

January 9, 2015  Students answered quesitons on the story "Turning Point."   Student participated in contest to enter Spelling Bee contest on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.  Students Were presented reserach project due January 22, 2014.  Please note that the rubric says a minimum of 2.5 pages and it should be 1.5 pages typed.  2.5 writtne.

Homework:
  • PB pages 99 & 100
  • Spelling test on Tuesday
  • Simple Solutions lesson 48
  • Wrok on research project due 1/22/2015.  Extra credit if received before 1/20/2015 and one extra credit poiint for each academic vocabulary word used and highlighted.

January 6, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

January 6, 2015:  Students reviwed ojbectve and purpose for today's lesson.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lesson  46.  Students reviewed how to annotate text and read a complex text on Women's Rights. Student discussed, annotated and answered comprehension questions.

Homework: 
  • Simple Solutions lesson 47
  • Read chaptes 76 to the end in the novel Middle School
  • Spelling test on PB 100 on  Friday
  • Students will be gettning  a research project on  fairness Wednesday.  This project bill be due  on Wedensday, January 21, 2014.
