April 30, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notficiations

April 30, 2015:  Students learned a new vocabulary term for figurative language and have the opportunity to do extra credit by providing three examples.  Students took Simple Solutions quiz and had the opportunity to work on vocabulary assignment using five vocabulary words from this week and writing a story or work on their myth which is due on 5/5.

Homework:

• Myth due 5/5.  Make sure you have a cover page, 5 written slides for your story and a reference page
• Vocabulary story using this week's vocabulary words, underline vocabulary.
• Extra credit for synedoche:   three examples

Students will be taking PARCC test on Friday and Monday.  MAPS testing begins on May 19th.

April 29, 2015:: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

April 29, 2015:  Students made a journal entry and learned a new term fallacy and reviewed a passage from Shakespeare.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions #92 for tomorrow's quiz on lesson 89-92.  They also worked on reading chapter 1 in the novel Roll of Thunder Hear Me Cry.

April 28, 2015:  Students worked on  reading chapter one in the novel Roll of Thunder Hear Me  Cry.  The wrote an essay on the exposition and took a six questions.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions #91.

Aprll 27, 2015:  Students made a journal entry on courage.  Students worked on vocabulary for the new novel, Rolling Thunder Hear Me Cry.  Students began to read new novel.

Students will be taking PARCC test for ELA and math will be on Monday.

April 24, 2015:  Students made a journal entry, took a spelling test and reviewed Simple Solutions #89 & 90 for for quiz next Thursday.  Students were introduced to vocabulary for the novel, "Rolling Thunder, Hear Me Cry."

April 22, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

April 22, 2015:  Students completed practice book 177.  Students read a passage on the myth, "John Hnery," Myth or Man?  Students also viewed and animation on this story.  Students will be doing a follow up after the play completing discussion questions on "John Henry."Students worked on their research projects using Chrome books.  All the students should have access to each team members project on Google Docs.

April 21, 2015.  Students took a pretest on spelling.  These words will be on the Hale website.  Students reviewed lesson 88.  Students participated vocabulary game using instructional, academic and  story elements.

April 20, 2015:  Students worked on journal entry and vocabulary.  Students were presented with a research project on myths.  Rubric is online and they will be working with partners.  Students will do the project of Google Docs and be able to share their PPT with another student.

April 15, 2015:  Students finished working on comprehension questions for the story "Last Flight."  Students took a test on the story and worked on a grammar selection on pronouns when they were done.

Homework:

• Study for spelling test on Friday
• Friday is sport jersey day.  Wear your favorite sport shirt.

Report card pick up Thursday.  No school for students.  Looking forward to seeing all the parents. :)

April 14, 2015:  Students made a journal entry on vocabulary.  Students completed practice book pages 75 & 76 review for spelling test on Friday.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lesson 87 and finished reading and answering questions from the story "Last in Flight."

Welcome Back!
April 13, 2015:  Students had a pre-spelling test today, made a journal entry and vocabulary entry for the word extort.  Students read the short story, "Last Flight."

Homework:

• Write missed spelling words 5 times each.  (I will put this on the website.)  Test on Thursday.

Tomorrow is Spring pictures and dress like a celebrity.  Wednesday is wacky Wednesday for dressing.  Thursday is report card pick up, there will be no school for students and Friday is where your favorite sports team.
