January 29, 2014: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

Language Arts:  January 29, 2014:  Students reviewed average classroom  scores for reading MAPs test.  Students reviewed spelling words for next week's test and reviewed simple solutions pages 124 & 125.  Students worked on vocabulary words for chapters 1-4 in the new novel they will be reading, "Number the Stars."

Homework:

• Study spelling words for test next week
• Room 212 complete vocabulary graphic organizer
• Simple Solutions pages 216 & 127

There will be after school on Friday.

Make sure if you have a form for Saturday school, you bring it back by Friday.  Saturday school is 11 to 1.

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, January 30, 2014.

January 22, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students worked on comprehension and vocabulary today in their Buckle Down workbook and Theme Skills workbook.  Room 213 is taking the NWEA reading test today (good luck).

End of quarter, January 23, 2014.

Report Cards go home on January 29, 2014.

January 21, 2013:  Language Arts.  Students worked on benchmark assessments today.  Most students completed the assessment.  Students not finished will have the opportunity to finish tomorrow.

Room 213 will be taking reading MAPs test tomorrow.

January 16,, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students finished giving their poetry presentations today, took affixes quiz, poetry test and/or benchmark assessment.

End of quarter next week.  Students want to make sure they do their best and get all their assignments in.

Room 112 will be taking NWEA reading test this Friday.  Room 213 will take NWEA reading test next Wednesday.  Room 212 did a great job on their NWEA test. :)

January 14, 2014:  Language Arts:  Students reviewed Simple Solutions pages 114 & 115.  Students took a test on poetry and then worked in their theme skills book on vocabulary.  Students will be presenting their poetry project Wednesday and Thursday and taking Benchmark test later in the week.  Room 112 will be taking NWEA reading test on Friday.  Affixes quiz on Thursday, January 16, 2014

01/13/14: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

January 13, 2014:  Students finished the lesson on poetry, reviewed definitions for tomorrow's poetry test.  Students reviewed what propaganda is and followed up with an activity.

Students were reminded the following is due:  Poetry test on 1/14/2014, Poetry project due on 1/15/2014, Affixes quiz on 1/16/2014.

NWEA MAPs test:  212 will  be taking the test on Tuesday, 1/14/2014.  Room 112 will be taking the test on Friday, 1/27/2014, and room 213 will be taking the test on Wednesday, 1/22/2014.  End of the quarter next weeks.  Students want to make sure they study hard and get all assignments in.

Homework:

• Simple Solutions pages 116 & 117
• Write a sentence for each vocabulary word.

January 9, 2014:  Language Arts.  Students participated in Spelling B for contest on January 15, 2014.  Students were presented with Poetry project  that will be due on 01/15/2014.  This project is also available online on the staff page under my name.  Students read poetry, answered comprehension questions using reading strategies.

• Poetry test on 01/14/14 study vocabulary
• Poetry project due on 1/15/14
• Affixes test on 1/16/14
• Collecting journals Monday and Tuesday next week

January 8, 2014: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

WELCOME BACK1

January 8, 2014:  Language Arts.  Students reviewed vocabulary words from the week before break on poetry.  Students viewed Brainpop and did an oral quiz about poetry.  Students began reading poetry on page 190 and answered comprehension questions.

Homework:

• Practice book page 93
• Simple Solutions pages 112 & 113

Friday after school will begin this week.  I will not be able to have it next week due to after school training I need to attend.  From that point on, we should be back on schedule.

Please do not forget to get you money in for upcoming field trip to the theater.

Nwea testing begins next week.  Please make sure you hype the children up for the test, get enough sleep and each well.

Looking forward to the second semester.  Great group of kids. :)
