February 26, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 26, 2015:  Students completed and reviewed practice book page 10.  Students reviewed homework lesson 72 in their Simple Solutions workbook.  Student took a test on chapters 1-4 "Number the Stars."  When students completed the test, they had the opportunity to work on Student Treasure book.

Homework:

  • Study for spelling test tomorrow.  Words on on the website 2/23/15
  • Study for Simple Solutions quiz tomorrow lesson 69-72
  • Student Treasure book is due on 3/5/15.  Four pages text and four pages illustrations.  You will present your story briefly.

February 25, 2015: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

February 25, 2015:  Students finished reading chapters 3 & 4 for the novel Number the Stars and answered comprehension questions.  Students worked on Chrome books practicing reading comprehension using Prepdogs.  Students worked on their Student Treasure books.

Homework:

  • Student Treasure book due March 5, 2015
  • Reading test tomorrow on vocabulary and chapters 1-4.  
  • Spelling test on Friday (words our next to homework blog on website)

February 24, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 24, 2015:  Students worked on practice book page 9.  Read chapters 3 & 4 in the novel "Number the Stars," and answered comprehension questions using. R.A.C.E. Students reviewed Simple Solutions lesson 70 and reviewed assigned root word and prefix for homework.

February 23, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 23, 2015:  Students made a vocabulary entry on the word concur.  Students were given a prespelling test.  These words will be on the haleschool.org website.  Students will be doing the practice book pages in class for volume two.  Students participated in an activity reviewing vocabulary (academic, instructional and story elements.  Students read chapter three "Number the Stars" and started to answer two comprehension questions.


  • Homework:
  • write missed spelling words 5 times each

February 20, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 20, 2015:  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lessons 68 & 69.  There will be a quiz next week on Simple Solutions 69-72.  Students reviewed comprehension questions chapter 1 for the novel "Number the Stars."  Students read chapter 2 discussed the chapter and began reading chapter three.

Student Treasure book due date has been changed to March 5, 2015.  After that date, you will receive half the points.  Remember you will get two book reports 10 points each and writing grade 40 points.

February 18, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 18, 2015:  Students had  a quiz on last night's root word and prefix.  Students worked on their Student Treasure book (rough draft) and this is due on February 27, 2015.  This will be a writing grade for 40 points and 2 book reports for reading 10 points each.  Students will also be presenting their book.  Reviewed Simple Solutions lesson 68.  There will be a Simple Solutions quiz next week.

February 13, 2105:  Students took spelling test for this unit.  Students reviewed prefix and root word assignment.  Students were introduced to the book "Number the Stars."

February 12, 2015:  Students entered vocabulary journal entry.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions 65 & 66.  Students reviewed practice book pages 183 & 184.  Students began reviewing assigned prefix and root words.

February 10, 2015:  Students made journal entry on new vocabulary word, reviewed Simple Solutions.#64  Students reviewed assigned prefix and root word.  Students were introduced to new vocabulary words for chapters 1-4 in the novel "Number the Stars."

February 9, 2015: Classwork, Homework and Notifications

February 9, 2015:  Students took a pre-spelling test on practice book page 183. Students were given packets for writing Student Treasure book.  This will be due on February 26th and it is worth 46 points and two book reports.  Students will be expected to do a small presentation of the book they wrote.  These books will be published for free by the company Student Treasures. Students were introduced to entire book packed and went over each step carefully.  Students may write a book or poems, recipes, story, how to book, etc.  Students will be given time for 45 minutes on each Wednesday to finish their book.  This needs to be done at home in order to finish.

Homework:

  • Permission slip signed for treasure book
  • Write missed spelling words 5 times each

February 5, 2015: Classwork, Homework & Notifications

February 5, 2015:  Students made a journal entry and vocabulary entry.  Students reviewed Simple Solutions lessons 61 & 62.  Students watched a video on the history of jazz and gained an understanding the contribution history of African Americans have made to our culture.  Students worked on story elements Buckle Down workbook.

February 4, 2015:  Students took a test on the story "A Passage to Freedom."  This test is worth 44 points and is the first test of the quarter.  Students worked on story elements in their Buckle Down workbook.

February 3, 2015:  Students worked on vocabulary journal entry and purpose for our lesson on story elements today.  Students read a literature story and answered questions on the exposition, rising action, climax and resolution.
